Course organisation:

Students are guided to their own PhD research via a succession of general courses in the first semester and more specialised courses in the second semester. By the end of the first year, students should have found a distinct focus for their PhD research, together with two main supervisors whose research interests cover the area of the proposed dissertation project. Concentration on this project within the following two-year period, and with close contact to the respective supervisors, should allow completion of the PhD within a total of (on average) three years. In addition to our own expert staff of senior scholars, a part of the programme will be conducted by leading visiting professors.
